Yes. The lens creates visible softness, vignetting, flare and chromatic shifts as light passes through it. The exact result changes with your camera, lighting and subject, but you will see the optical character before editing.
Neither. It is a physical lens that shapes light before it reaches the sensor, so the character is captured in the original file rather than applied afterwards. A preset only re-maps colour in an image you have already taken.
No. The lens works on its own straight out of the box. The presets are included as a starting point if you want to push the look further in editing, but nothing about the optical character depends on them.
Yes. The lens behaves the same way for stills and motion, so you get matching softness, flare and vignetting across both. Many people use it for video precisely because the look is consistent shot to shot.
Yes, and low light is where the character is strongest. Point sources such as street lights and neon bloom and flare through the optics. You will want a steady hand or a faster shutter, as with any wide-aperture lens.
No, it is manual focus. The focus ring is smooth and damped, and the depth of field is forgiving at normal shooting distances, so it stays quick to use once you are familiar with it.
